Well okay. Yes and no to your yes and no. I think the thumb system mostly encourages trolls who think a thumb count of -7 is a badge of honor. But more importantly, I have noticed that here at IIN, empathy does very little to up your count.
Well yes and no.
While some trolls intentions are incessantly trying to offend users or leave crude comments, their - 7 (which I've never seen here, yet) does not get them far. As the thumb system removes their ability to comment. Meaning 1-2 max comments -- they are usually gone by then and headed toward a third/fourth/fifth account. It seems trolling is a teeny tiny problem here. Frequent user's laments (regarding the users they hate) is much more rampant than trolls, trolling.
I see the biggest spike in posts, where people cannot differentiate between "troll post" or a serious question. Making the comments section, "well if you're not trolling X" and so on. So posting-trolls are more likely, than comment trolls.
iin i think IIN is frequently used as an alternative to social media?

I have noticed that as well. BTW, -7 was the lowest count I have ever seen.
