Jerks get the girl, but jerks often don't keep the girl. There's almost a biological imperative for women to be massively attracted to arrogant men for the purposes of breeding, but then select an entirely different type of man to bring up their children and be their partner for life. It happens in lots of primate societies, not just human.
It's not women being illogical or deceitful. It's evolution at work. And it actually makes some twisted kind of sense. The ideal man is one who appears confident and almost knocks a woman off her feet but then slowly shows his real, sensitive and nurturing side. Men being uncaring, arrogant players is also evolution at work. And sadly, makes the same twisted kind of sense. Get as many women pregnant as possible and make some other sucker pay for and love your children.
We are what we are. Both men and women. No point moaning about it. Better to try and understand it and then see what we want in light of that understanding.
