I'll agree with you here. I think losing your virginity comes when you engage in sexual activity and since you weren't engaged in it at all, then you're still virgin.
That said, I think people that judge you as having experience that you don't have does make sense, even if it's unjustified. For 99% of people in your situation, that would be a valid assumption.
