Oh yes, the blank gaze. It can be difficult to make it seem like you are looking at nothing (hard not to focus on anything). But less likely to bump into things. I think I might try the glasses, but is it disrespectful or racist or something to do this in public? I don't know any blind people to ask.
Being blind myself, I would probably not encourage you to do this in a major grocery store, but you could probably get away with it at your local convenience store. You could probably practice around your neighborhood as well. Just make sure you can get back home. I can tell you that it would not be racist, as blind people are not a race. I can give you some tips on using the cane in an effective way if you like.
Well I do the stock-standard sweeping ahead motion when I'm outside. But inside (where no-one can see) I get a bit cheeky and spank it round a bit, I just be careful not to knock things over. How do you use it? Have you ever wacked anybody with it?
Is it normal I pretend to be blind?
