Is it normal i pick at skin/nails as often as i do?

Ever since I was really young I've had a bad habit of picking at my fingers' skin and nails a lot, and as I got older and developed acne i started picking at those too. I bite my nails really short and never own bandages so I always lick it away before I wash it out of habit too

I get really distracted from what I'm doing to the point I go to the bathroom and start cutting off any weird, rough skin that bothers me (so obviously I have a lot of sores) and ive even cut off a birthmark before, cut open a sore on my back because a lump wouldn't go down, and since I have some issues with my hair i always find myself scratching at my scalp to feel like i can pull my nails through the bumps on it to get rid of them

Is this an issue anyone else has?

You might have an anxiety disorder, I highly recommended you talk to your doctor about this.

Good suggestion, because OP is going to end up with permanent scarring and/or some nasty infections if h/she can't find a way of ending this compulsion.

My friend has anxiety so bad that she constantly rubs/picks her thumb. Its gotten so bad that her nail is starting to fall off. She saw a doctor and they had prescribed her antibiotics but also medicine for anxiety as well.

Not normal at all. Talk to a medical professional.
