Is it normal i only wear sweats or other soft materials when possible?

Ok, so ever since I was a little kid, I HATED most kinds of clothing. In particular, I only like relatively soft clothing, such as sweats, t-shirts, and other athletic wear. I just don't like the feel of other kinds of clothing. I find jeans to be moderately uncomfortable, and my gosh, how I hate wearing a button down shirt and tie. Seriously, I don't know why we even wear shirts and ties. They are so uncomfortable. I shudder at the thought of even having to wear one. The feeling of that kind of material on my skin makes me very uncomfortable, and always has. I mean, I normally just sit there with my arms cross for 20 minutes, because I hate the feel of the fabric on my skin when I move my arms. It takes at least an hour for me to even get used to the feel. Considering the fact that we have more comfortable alternatives of clothing, I don't know why these clothing styles are even still around. I mean, what is the point of a tie anyway? It's just a flap of cloth you hang off of your neck.

The reason I ask this question is I know sweats and the like have somewhat of a social stigma, and I feel like people think I'm weird for thinking this way, but I just like wearing functional, comfortable clothing. It's not that I don't dress up when absolutely necessary (for example, I can't walk into a job interview in sweats, although I wish I could), but I hate wearing such clothing the whole time I'm wearing it, can't wait to take it off, and constantly wonder why society has norms pertaining to wearing such horrid clothing to begin with.

  • I like athletic clothing, and pj-type stuff too. It's much more comfortable. One of my favorite little joys at the end of the day, is coming home from my job, taking off my thick, button up, polyester chef's coat, my uncomfortable pants, and putting on my lounge around clothing.

I don't particularly care for the feel of jeans, either. I wear them a lot, but I certainly would prefer it if athletic clothing were worn more in public.

  • I like lounge pants and basketball shorts. It's really comfortable. I hate wearing tighter and stiffer things like jeans when I'm at home.

  • Im the exact same way. My TNA pants are all-purpose for me, i domt wear jeans unless i have to. I only dress up for job or to go out to a club or something. When im at home i always wear only whats comfortable and i sleep naked. Ive been like that since i was a kid though. Still, the worst fabrics for me are velvet and angora. Angora is kind of furry and it feels very soft to the touch, but when i put it on it feels extremely prickly and really hurts me. Velvet just sends shivers up my spine. I think its something my parents accidentally taught me because ever since i was little i was always taught that when i get home i have to change into house clothes so i dont ruin my "going out" clothes because we lived in a country where it was really hard to find clothes to buy and they were really expensive. So house clothes were usually something old and ugly and inadvertedly very comfortable, so i think i got used to that feeling of comfortable clothes. My boyfriend always wears jeans and a dress shirt, even at home, and it doesnt bother him. I find THAT weird.
