They don't taste very yummy to me when they are hard. When they get soft they are sweet and juicy. The hard ones are still good for making a pear pie. It would be really nice to have a pear tree and let them ripen on the tree so they are nice and soft when you pick them but still fresh. Unfortunately unless you have a pear tree in your backyard then they were picked early and shipped to the grocery store where they will ripen on the shelf. I hope I have a pear tree some day.
