True. I am still haunted by those selfies I took and posted on IG just to fit in. I felt guilty thinking about flooding other people IG with my ugly selfies back then. My IG was also flooded with friends' selfie pics. Double nightmares when they putted irrelevant pretentious quotes as captions for their selfie pics.
IG needs more considerate person like you. I am absolutely fine if people took selfies once in a while but it's annoying as a follower when their contents are mostly just about that. Pictures of cats or dogs would be sweet and refreshing to look at after going through thousands of narcissistic selfies of them.

Haah...the quotes yeah...for me it's hashtags. I can't stand em, but I'm resigned to others using them, now. Same as I despise "lol" etc...but am resigned to the fact that people I love do use them. And I still love them despite it :p
There's a fair amount of pupper and kitty accounts on IG that aren't a load of wank. I follow heaps cos fluffballs.

I don't understand selfies. Rarely take them because fuck knows I don't need to see my ugly mug. Certainly wouldn't inflict it on others regularly.
My ig is private and primarily for keeping in touch with overseas friends. And photos of my dog. Photos of me would feel gross and narcissistic.
But I don't necessarily apply that to my friends' accounts.
Unless it's duckface etc pics. Then I judge. Hard.
