I've to agree with you. I think it has now turned into a place seeking for social validation. I recall this one acquantaince bragged to me about having 200+ likes for his picture more than his friends and I secretly cringed when he did that. It baffled me how some people on social media can be competitive about likes. He really looked like a total narcissist and desperate for validation when he did that. I really wish I didn't know about Instagram at all back then.
