I can relate, my hair is almost waist length and sometimes I just wanna go get a pixie cute, but I'm pretty sure a lot of stylists wouldn't be comfortable taking me through what might seem like such an extreme change. I'm willing to bet they'd want me to go shoulder length or a bob first. Sure a lot of dudes like long hair, but it's a huge pain to maintain. The cost of a haircut, color, shampoo, conditioner and any other products is usually more than twice as much for me, not to mention the weight of it and how hot it gets in Las Vegas.
But length doesn't determine the cost of a haircut. I actually get annoyed that I have to pay the same price for a haircut considering how easy my hair is to cut and how low maintenance I am regarding hair.
OP- I rarely wear my hair up so between the two of us, we balance things out.
My stylist charges extra for longer hair, but she checks her work multiple times and I've never found a mistake or felt that it was mediocre work, so it's worth it! Still any product costs me extra, because I have so much hair. I feel like a rough collie with this mane of mine, but my mother loves it. I can also understand about your point regarding cost to maintain a short look. I think to my self I can't afford the maintenance in keeping short hair cut on a regular basis, but it would save on product cost. Either way, I guess it depends and both options have their advantages and drawbacks.
IIN I never wear my hair down?
