Let me give you a list of reasons why your comment may get downvoted on here. Ready? It is because someone:
- disagrees with you
- disapproves of your hateful/racist/derogatory comment
- has a different opinion than you (eg. they dont like apples)
- is friends with the person you're disagreeing with
- is obligated to downvote you even though they're fine with what you said... cause groupism.
- wants you to feel bad... cause sadism.
- wants some way of venting their rage while debating with you!
- totally missed your blindingly obvious sarcasm
- is bored
- is trolling
- is hoping you react to the downvote and give them something fun to read
- dislikes that you made a typo or grammatical error
- dislikes that you don't speak english eloquently
- dislikes that you used a word like eloquently
- just flat out dislikes you!
- didn't mean to, it was an accident
- is not having a good day
- is just a cranky person in general
- is the same person who gave you the first 3 downvotes by signing into different accounts
- is annoyed because you used too many emoticons
- is annoyed by how happy or optimistic that comment was
Damn I can keep going. Anyway, a few of these will apply anywhere on the internet. But now let me ask -you- a question. Now that you know the popular reasons why you get downvoted, how seriously do you think you should take being downvoted here? (Or even being upvoted, but that one's for next week's class)
IIN I'm worried to comment because of the voting system
