Is it normal I'm worried thegypsysailor is really dead?

I'm not sure where he is or if he's coming back. I do think of him as a good user due to how he used to give helpful, no nonsense advice. I started to notice that his comments seemed to deteriorate in quality to the point where he seemed to be personally attacking some users. I don't have any ill will against him or anything like that when I say this.
