First, it is always a great idea to file a formal complaint if one has a specific complaint to complain about. Secondly, the person has a suggestion of what they would like to see done differently. If we [ as a public simply complain out of emotional neglects ] then all is for not. You did not state in your post....what was not professional?
What was not professional:
1. One staff member could not communicate properly to me. She forgot to tell me important information which caused me to have to repeat all the tests I have to do at home. She seriously did not even know which day of the week it was or that the lab would not be open over Easter.
2. All of the staff can't communicate properly with each other. That was obvious to me because I witnessed them asking each other endless questions about procedures which they should have known about. It's obvious to me that this must be the management's fault since if there was a good manager at this place he/she would instruct the staff to do the their jobs properly.
3. The majority of the staff there were rude towards me. They pretended everything was my fault which it obviously wasn't. The whole concept of basic politeness is something they don't seem to know even exists. There is no excuse for these people to not be polite. Waiters and cashiers have stressful jobs as well. Yet the majority of them manage to be polite to customers.
4. The staff consists of slackers. They took AGES for even the tiniest amounts of paper work. Also, while I I had to wait in the waiting room, which was full of people waiting to be attended to, I witnessed two staff members gossiping.
sometimes you have to be careful about what you complain about and at what level. a waiting area full of people doesnt sound like its the fault of the workers. that sounds like the managers/corporation of the place are not doing a good enough job effectively managing their employees' workflow.
besides, other people have more things to complain about like medical malpractice. it doesnt sound like they've done anything to you with regard to malpractice, etc, have they?
Question: how do you know they were gossiping?
Question: do you think they were gossiping about you?
Question: did their gossiping affect your treatment or make you ill?
if its a matter of time wasted maybe you should give a better example of how they've wasted your time.
i'm trying to understand at what level was the gossiping affecting your care.
also, sadly there are horror stories of doctors being drunk during serious surgery, and people being sewed up with towels still in them. horrible horrible things.
i can only condone complaining on this level if someone has seriously disrespected you and it has caused great strain or loss of money.
I don't agree with you that I should only have complained if my health had been affected. Of course I know that many people's health is affected by doctors acting unprofessionally, and that I'm lucky that that at least has never happened to me. However, I have had so many negative experiences with rude medical staff in the past that I've just gotten so sick of their idiotic and/or rude behaviour that I decided to complain this time. Doctors' visits cost me money so I have the right to expect staff who know what they are doing. Besides, if people doing the same jobs in a different city can get their act together why can't these people? I think people don't complain enough when they have the right to do so as it is.
Is it normal I'm this happy after having made a complaint

I did not mean to imply it's the workers' fault. I agree with you it's probably the management's fault. I bet the manager is a slacker.
