It depends on how much you want to defend your reputation as to how far you will go. I have a sil that has spread very ugly untrue gossip about me. I found out years later and I was livid. I wanted to defend myself right away but my husband told me just to say nothing so I wouldn't rock the family boat. Well I finally sent her a letter and told her she owed me an apology and she knew what she did was wrong. I never heard back from her and since I don't have to see her but every 5 years or so it doesn't surprise me. A lying witch will always be a miserable lying witch in my opinion.
