It is normal to feel a little insecure due to past experiences, but what you have to realize is that your new bf is not your ex...they are not the same person. Your new boyfriend has done nothing to make you distrustful of him. He re assures you that you have nothing to worry about..BELIEVE HIM and give him the benefit of the doubt. A wise man once told me that people are going to do what they are going to do regardless if you trust them or not, and that it is better to trust them until they do something to break that trust.
Also, you have to give yourself more credit. Just because one asshole was a douchebag to you before IS NOT a poor reflection on you, but is a poor reflection on HIS character. You can't base your self- worth on the actions of some selfish,insensitive prick who isn't mature enough to respect the boundaries set in your monogamous relationship with him. Believe me, men like that will cheat on ANY woman even the most beautiful, intelligent woman. Some will blame it on their biology, which is just a poor excuse and a cop out. When a man is mature and really loves a woman and respects her the chances of him cheating are quite slim.
Just think positive and love yourself and know that you are a good person who deserves the best in life. Forget the past and leave your baggage behind and enjoy the present moment with your new love! I was in your position once and I know how hard it is to let go of bad experiences. But once you let go and open your heart you will see how truly wonderful and happy you can be with yourself and your new partner. Keep your head up doll! good luck!
