I think that you just strive hard to reject your parents beliefs, which is okey so long as you love them, which I think you do.
Ya I think that religion can have that effect on some people, sorry that it effected your parents in a bad way.
I think that you're a smart enough person to live your own life without having someone shove their beliefs down your throat. Still, they're your parents and you gotta love them.
I don't try to reject their beliefs. I was raised as a full blown Pentecostal Christian and tried so hard to get closer to God. If he existed, he just didn't care.
For the longest time, my parents never even knew I was Atheist. I just hid it from them for good reason. I figured there was no way to properly argue with them, as they will cheat the argument and force me to go back to Church.
I'm just...diss-appointed in the majority of humanity. They only seem interested in what makes those 'happy feelings' come. They don't want knowledge, they want feeling.
Most people want to escape reality and feel good. Drug addicts do it. I'm not saying your parents are drug addicts I'm just saying their behavior is understandable. Also, knowledge can usually lead to misery. I mean just look at what happened to Adam and Eve. If your family wants to stay happy then let them.
Is it normal I'm Fascinated with the Human Mind?
