  • When I refer to everybody, I'm referring to a lot of people around me. There's a long story to it, but for the most part my entire family and more have proven themselves to be idiots time and time again.

I had to shake the shackles of discrimination, closed-mindedness, and more off of me to become who I am.

I'm not saying you're dumb or anybody else is. I just believe people have a choice to be smart...and they choose not to by remaining closed-minded and worshipping fairies in the sky.

    • So this is more so against religious people? Who are you to say it's not rational to believe in their religion? (I'm not religious).
Nobody really knows, and until we do, we can't go around saying everyone is narrow minded for not believing in religion. A lot of religion does good for others.

Oh OP, please pity me for you are so enlightened as I worship this magical sky fairy.

You know I'm a big, ignorant dumbass, ItDuz. Tell him I'm sorry in smart people talk.

        • There are two types of people involving religious debates:

Type A - the people who worship and believe because it makes them feel good, etc.

Type B - the people who want the truth.

I'm Type B...and my whole family is Type A. They feel like such idiots to be around because I'm constantly attacked for my disbelief in their deity.

          • That's an odd generalization.
I love the way religion makes me feel and I agree with people who say that religion gives you a sense of purpose to be a better person.

I also love the doctrines and the "truth" so to speak.

            • An odd generalization? When it comes to religion, those are the two main debaters (there's a lot more to Type A than I let on about).

"I love the way religion makes me feel"

Then you are Type A, and this debate cannot continue.

I know your a smart person (I've seen your posts for a while), but when people go to religion when in trouble, they reach this 'wall', so to speak.

Me trying to talk to them is as useless as throwing a rock at a wall...and absolutely pointless.

              • Then you're correct, this debate can not continue.

You are going to take one of my statements and use that ONE statement to put me into the group of "ignorance". I have many complex reasons why I am in to religion. The way it makes me feel is just one of them. But if you're going to close your mind off to me as one of those ignorant people, just as you're complaining of the way that those people close their mind off to all else by virtue of their religion, and stereotype me with generalizations that you have made up based off of your personal experience, because it's easier than actually taking the time to hear out someone else's reasoning and try to use critical thinking skills to think about the problem, then you're right. This debate can not continue.

Because no matter what, you're going to generalize me into this sub-group because it makes it easier for you. So that's cool. I'm glad you've got me all figured out.

        • It's not religious people I got a problem with. It's the ones around me (aka my family), who are trying to convert me back to Christianity.

I'm very irritated because of them; and I can tell they're all idiots. Religion suppresses the cognitive thinking abilities (alert senses seem to go off when their faith is challenged). There have been research studies on this.

Now I never said being religious makes you stupid; I apologize if that's what you made out, I was irritated at dealing with them.

      • It isn't just religion. It's the people who will outright battle me based on faith alone in an ideal.
