Is it normal i love playing the eraser game to get new scars?

I love cutting and burning my self. Yes it is painful but I love the scars afterwards. Is it normal to love scars that much to self harm myself to get more?

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

it's not normal, though i have the same problem. are there factors that increase your urge to hurt yourself, such as when you're feeling stressed? sometimes self-harm is a way to cope with underlying emotions, even if you're not consciously thinking of it that way.

Self-harm is usually a result of feeling sad or anxious about something, and the self-inflicted injury brings a sense of relief. When the body experiences pain, it releases endorphins to help cope. Endorphin is actually short for endogenous morphine, meaning a morphine-like substance that is created endogenously (within the body). Morphine feels good, anyone who has ever had it in the hospital can attest to that. So, it is natural to feel a little boost when you experience pain. However, damaging your own body to get this little boost is not healthy. And while scars are interesting, scars only occur when you have damaged tissue. It is not good to damage your tissue. I would say that it would be good to examine what is making you feel stressed or sad and try to address this issue, whatever it is.

Also, here is an alternative to self-harm---make ice cubes of water with red food coloring in them. When you feel like you want to cut or burn yourself, just go get an ice cube or two, and clutch them very tightly in your hand. The cold of the ice is painful, but it won't hurt your skin. And then you will also feel that drip of the ice melting (many cutters like that drip sensation) and you will get to see that red color (many cutters like that red color). I am a licensed therapist, and this a harm reduction method. You might try it!

Hope you're not serious. If you are, you're pretty stupid. Self harm is never normal. Include the voting part too.

It may not be normal, but it isn't uncommon either. I used to work in a restaurant, and even though I never actively tried to hurt myself if I ever burned my arm on the oven I was always a lil excited to see how the scar would turn out. I got a nice half Moon scar on my leg once from accidentally kneeing a metal tube as well lol
