How do you know people have given up? Maybe they've just become tired of talking to you? Maybe they haven't given up, but instead are just ignoring you?
But ceasing to make an effort doesn't have to mean giving up: I used to be much more argumentative than I am now. I still have strong opinions about many issues, but I've decided now I'm old I don't have enough life left to waste my time arguing with people who are never going to change their minds. Anyway, letting myself get angry about things I can't change is very bad for my blood pressure and my general stress levels.
I still love a good thoughtful civilised debate but only in the spirit of exploration and sometimes (VERY occasionally) I even change my mind after listening to others.
Okay. Understandable. But you are still giving up by definition, whenever you choose to stop arguing. No matter the reason, however good of a reason it is. I didn't say giving up means admitting defeat.
Well you can believe that if it makes you feel better, but removing oneself from pointless argument with stubborn arrogant people isn't giving up, it's only deciding to stop wasting time & energy. Life's just too short for that bullshit
Excellent points. I never argue with opinionated bores. I also tend to assume that they're ranting on because, deep down, they're not totally sure they're right, and they're desperate for someone else to tell them they are.
IIN I'll fight till I win

I'm not the original poster. But all of those still count as giving up. Giving up is defined as to cease making an effort.

Agreed however giving up does mean defeat.
They have nothing more to say thus they lose the battle

Do you mean OP? You could well be right!
Definitely not.
If someone is in the wrong I'll definitely make them aware and fight them till they give up

The problem is that there are no universal truths, so you are basically tilting at windmills the majority of the time, if you take that stance.

Who cares? There are a lot of loosers out there.
If op wants to make their point then so be it.
At least op fights for what they believe in
