It's difficult to discern at which point a sexual or romantic interest goes from being abnormal to normal; we mustn't forget that a great deal of our views on this issue are shapes largely by societal norms and legislation. Regardless, the overwhelming majority of people, including myself, agree that a certain line must be distinctly drawn. So long as you're not sexually approaching kids, it would be quite the stretch to assume that you're doing anything wrong.
However, it must be kept in mind that my view on this subject is merely a rational one - one that is NOT held by a large percentage of society. In fact, I can tell you from firsthand experience that merely having a major soft-spot for kids is often enough to make you a target, even if you never provide any indication that your interest is anything other than completely innocent.
