    Can I do that straight to my computer or do I need some sort of Touch device?

      Yes, Install a PDF reader, Adober Reader or Foxit Reader. Google them, they are free. Install a torrent client, Bittorent or uTorrent, also free. Go to torrent sites like piratebay or kickass.to. There are tons of ebook there. Not that I am advocating piracy but reading is one the things people should do in their spare time.
