Hi, im a 29 yr old guy and i love to just drink beer on my own in my room while playing games on my xbox 360 and or listening to music (normally very loud) btw i live in a bedsit and i do often get lonely. Is this normal?!

    Why don't you go out to a local bar?

    It's ok for men to prop up the bar and you will soon meet people. Drinking alone is often a sign of alcoholism as most people use alcohol in social situations.

      I don't see how going to a bar is any better than drinking alone. Aside from eliminating one of the "symptoms" of alcoholism, he's just going to be spending more money to drink the same amount, plus he has to worry about getting home after drinking, which is bad if he had to drive to the bar.

        Do what I do - get taxis!!

        The danger for the OP drinking alone is that he likes the taste / effect too much and so slips further and further into alcoholism. The majority of people use alcohol to socialise - not for the effect of alcohol alone. He could well end up spending every penny he can get his hands on in order to get the next drink!

        My sister stopped drinking the night she realised she didn't want to go out drinking with her friends, she just wanted them to clear off so she could start drinking. She thought this a dangerous sign!!!

        Perhaps the OP should try to detox for a month and if he/she can't stay off it - they know they have a problem.

    Well it's cheaper to drink at home.

    But if you never ever leave your room then you may have issues

    Humans were not designed to be isolated. If you drink everyday all the time you will find yourself in misery. It always ends up that way. Listen to the song misery and gin by merle haggard. It'll relate to you.

    I live alone man and do the exact same thing. Though I had the cops called on me twice in two days for my music being too loud, so keep it down. God, I hate my neighbor.
