  • That doesn't help much since women's clothing has no size standard.

    • Well then you may vary in clothing size depending on the clothing. What energy said is accurate though since you haven't come up with a better plan. It's right..try things on, the one that fits is your size. That's not so hard.

    • You're absolutely correct, however, your size will typically fall within a range as the size of women's clothing often depends on the brand.

I live in the US, and my lowest pant-size is 5. My highest is 8. Therefore, my size range is between 5-8. When I go to try on clothes, I find a pair of pants, get size "5,6,7,8" (unless 5 is obviously too tight or 8 is obviously too big when I match them up against my hips) and then I try them on.

If I come out with "7", then 6 was slightly too tight and 8 was slightly too lose, 7 is a good, snug fit. That's what you have to do. It sounds more complicated then it is but once you figure out what your range is, then you will have a much easier time picking out clothing to try on.

It's all trial and error and it takes a while to do, so find a brand that you like, try them on until you find one that fits, remember that size, and remember the sizes of the pants you buy after that. If the size from that brand is 3 and the size from another brand is 1 but 5 is too big when you try on any brand other jeans, then that is your range., 1-4. In short, no matter what the brand, there will be a size you can wear and a size you cannot. I can't be a size 4 in ANY brand, and I can't be a size 9 in ANY brand. BUT I can be a size 5 in some brands and an 8 in some brands, hence, my range, 5-8. I will definitely be one of those 4 given sizes, but I won't ever be anything more or less unless my figure changes. Does this make sense?

Good luck, it was a pain for me to figure this out after I finished growing, so you have to be patient. I learned my range over the course of 3 years of trying on different pants-sizes, and you can always go into your closet, try on what fits, and go from there.

By the way, there is no reasonable explanation as to why you would pick up pants 5 sizes too big. You'd be wasting your time. Get the pants, unfold them and hold them up to your hips by the sides and if the pants are way bigger than your hips, obviously they won't fit unless your ass is tremendous.
