Is it normal I hate those cop-out middle names?

  • unusual names don't really scar children. it's not like an alternative to sodomy, it's a name. the poster just wants people's parents to put some thought into it...

    • I have an unusual name, and was picked on for it quite a lot as a younger kid. It depends on the individual case if the kid gets any bad experience from it.

There's no need to get thoughtful over a name anyway; it doesn't change anything in your life apart from what you call yourself (which can be changed by deed poll anyway). If a name means "brave", that doesn't make the kid brave. Names don't affect your life.

Even if they did, what right does the OP have to advise parents on how to raise their own children? It's all just his or her personal preference.

      • OP has the right to advise whomever he pleases, and the parents have the right to not heed the advice. names are important to some individuals, especially in eastern cultures. i believe anything worth doing is worth giving thought and effort, so why should naming be different?
