I understand what you mean by wanting to feel like your job isn't useless... I feel that way. The majority of people aren't really connected to what they do in my opinion. I don't think it's selfish or considered complaining to realize this or want it. Not enough people see it that way. Just because someone makes a realization about something and comments about it doesn't mean they think they have it the worst or are ungrateful or should be considered any less than a person who struggles every day but doesn't complain. Seeing things in a different perspective is helpful but shouldn't put down what someone is feeling. It's not a good feeling knowing you'll have to work the rest of your life until your old and can retire and by then too old to enjoy life. Especially a bad job. It's not really fair how society has created us to be... people think society is so perfect and while it does have so many great things it's not close to perfect.
