The personality really depends on the breed and the cat. For instance, my first cat was a Tabby-Tortoiseshell and she was very independent. She didn't like a lot of affection and she was super temperamental. She wasn't selfish. My current cat is an Oriental Shorthair. She is extremely affectionate and playful. She needs a lot of attention and affection otherwise she'll get mopey. She not selfish either.
Out of all of the felines that I have met, none of them have been selfish. I think that is one of the stereotypes that plaques their kind.
Is it normal I hate cats?
