  • It's normal. Just like how I find it annoying when they call an actress a actor.

    • haha I'm the opposite. An actor to me is just a person who acts. I don't see why we have to differentiate between the sexes with everything. I think they say both because in the dictionary it doesn't say it's a male who acts it says it's a person who acts.

      • I totally agree. In English we have very few male specific and female specific nouns, which is good in my opinion; it makes things a little less complicated, less segregated. A doctor, a nurse, a hairdresser, a musician, a teacher, a writer... an actor!

I think this trend of using non-gender specific nouns should continue where differentiation isn't necessary... For example waitresses should also be called waiters.

        YEAH!
