Is it normal i find a majority of high end brands really ugly?

Gucci, Versace, etc, their clothes are just awful. I think people wear it as a status symbol, but even if I was wealthy I would wear clothes I thought actually looked nice. So much of it looks really tacky to me.

All that high end crap is just to make the elites feel special. Art is for essentially tax evasion.

More expensive clothes, shoes, and hand bags are nicer and better quality up to a certain point. After that, it is diminishing returns.

Even so, I guy almost all my clothes and such from Goodwill.

I know one over priced hand bag brand is Kate Spade. That crap just LOOKS like garbage. Like some middle school kid's Home Ec project.

Absolutely true. A well made leather handbag will look and last better than a fake leather one, and so is worth spending the extra, but if you then add a little metal logo to the front of it and then think it's worth an extra few hundred, you are kidding yourself.

I agree. Coach purses are a big thing with a few women I know, and I don't see anything special about them and find them ugly. One I saw just had a bunch of "C"s all over it. What's the point, is it so the whole world knows you're carrying around an overpriced purse? Same with the huge brand names on clothing.

I buy most of my clothes from Walmart, lol. I've found some really nice, comfortable clothes there for a low price. They have some nice athletic wear and summer clothing at my local store.

Honestly, I find a lot of so-called "high end" things to be vastly overrated, and usually the quality does not match the price. There are certainly high end names that make quality products and have earned their reputation, but there's no shortage of stuff that is of mediocre quality and you're mostly paying for a name with. This goes for clothing and handbags, furniture, appliances, even custom built homes. You'd be surprised the so-called "high end" homes I've been in, in which all of the woodwork and cabinets were particle board, the hardware and fixtures were cheap, and there were a lot of corners cut in the construction.

I think the only high end stuff I've ever shelled out more for is horse tack, being an equestrian, and that hasn't been too often. Even then, some of the super trendy so-called "high end" brands are not really that great, but I've been in the sport long enough and owned and handled enough tack to know what is good quality and what is just overpriced, faddish junk. Some really is worth the money, such as Edgewood and Hadfield's bridles that will last forever with good care, but anything made of French leather (which seems to be the trend right now; Antares, CWD, Devoucoux, etc.) IMO just doesn't last long enough to be worth the $$$ price point. Most of the time, I just end up buying older used stuff that is super well made and still in good condition, but very out of style in the show ring, so I get top notch quality for what you could buy a new entry level, crap quality version with. Still riding in tack that is years older than me, and I'm 25. But, that tack is much better made than most of what is available today, and I got it for a steal simply because it's no longer trendy. I did go ahead and splurge a little on a few really nice high end bridles, but they are actually of good quality and will easily be here for 20+ years, and were well worth the money.

A lot of times those brands just put their labels on crap and people buy it because of the labels. There is no superior quality whatsoever. It's cute when a pair of rubber gucci flip flops cost $700 and people buy that.

I can be a brand fan for certain timepieces and automobiles, but that is for an anknowlegement and expectaion of quality and craftsmanship or performance beyond just the brands name itself.

Brands like that are popular for a reason, they show that you have money and style.

not really anymore, no. it's 100% a status symbol nowadays. obviously, style is subjective, but i *highly* doubt that everyone who wears a supreme shirt would wear it if it was $20.

        I would not wear a $20 shirt.
That is four times what I am used to paying. I shop Goodwill.

This post reminds me of some of the people in my town I knew. They'd piss their money away on expensive brand clothes and cars, then whine about how they can't pay their rent, or afford groceries. Like, is being pretentious really worth that? I don't get it. XD

But, but, what about swag? Can't be pimpin in a honda civic or wearing Walmart clothes now can they?

Why would they spend their money on goofy things like rent or groceries?

But here is a joke - Some women be naming their kids after stuff they cannot afford. Names like Mercedes, Diamond, Lexus, electric bill..

Honestly, I wonder where their brain cells are. They probably lost them after the loud vibrations of their Honda Civic knocked them out. XD

Yeah the clothes and bags are pretty ugly, I dont get why people buy them. Its just because they have the brand name on them which makes those people stupid as hell.
When it comes to celebs I can kind of get it, I think some of them buy the ugliest of brand clothing just because they can and to be quirky. Its also because the brand can sell more if certain people wear their stuff publically, celebrities make their money that way.
