If you see a psychiatrist, he might go straight to a psychiatric diagnosis instead of checking your thyroid function, pituitary function, adrenals, food allergies, a brain tumor, all that stuff. It could be so many things, but in case it gets worse, this might be the best time to look into it if you have insurance. Talk to your doctor though, saying you want your insurance to pay, but you are concerned about your medical history causing insurance problems. I would start out with general lab tests and maybe he has questionnaires you can do that will help him figure out what's going on with your brain without putting "schizophrenia" or any other problematic psychiatric diagnosis in your file.
