I don't think what you're describing makes any sense whatsoever unless you can't afford to care for two animals or perhaps the second one has some bad habits. Honestly, I think it's weird. It's like you only have a very small amount of love to give, and once you're out of love, you're out of love. Are you chronically ill, fatigued or otherwise disabled to where you don't have the energy to have more than one animal companion?
Honestly, if I had the energy and money I would love at least a dog to be my cat's buddy, and maybe two Siamese kittens. I still love Persian and Himalayan cats! Did I mention that I love dogs and rats too?
So do you have any children? Does all of this make you feel emotionally drained by any chance? If you do have any children try not to resent them.
