Oded here, self inflicted harm. Very common amongst the misunderstood and tormented. A way of believing that yourself is unworthy of love and care. Very unfortunate when it happens but I am very happy to understand from what you have said that you have stopped. Insecurities is a natural human response from those whom were misjudged. Normal yes but also easy to reverse. Simply put, just do it. Just wear the short sleeves. Hard at first however will become easier over time. If you get asked, just tell them you had bad times in the past but that is no longer. Society seems to give off the appearance of being highly critical which in some cases yes however not as much as one would think. Be confident and that my friend is all you need.
