if you're looking for friends you would have better odds outside of a bar. maybe try coffee shops, the library, parks, or join an organization, then you guys would have similar interests and something to talk about. not saying it's impossible to make friends at a bar, but the odds are against you. bars are usually loud, people are plastered, will not remember your name or that they should call you, and there is more of a chance that they will think you are hitting on them.
