Is it normal I don't understand the "fast" sex life?

  • I trust people generally. Most people don't have STDs, so the chance of running into someone who does is pretty low. Also, it's the duty of the person with the STD to inform you beforehand provided they know they carry it. That doesn't stop them lying, of course, but it does give me a right to be aggrieved they do lie. I've talked to people about STDs before and I've never met anyone who's had one and I know some people who sleep around far more than I do.

    Maybe I'm just naive but I feel like while STDs are obviously a real thing, I think the threat of them is something society exploits and exaggerates to demonize casual sex.

    • People lie about the number of partners they've had, they lie about spouses, and relationship status, but you think they're going to be honest about STD's? I'm not trying to be a wise-ass but I think you're lying to yourself about the likelihood of acquiring an std.

      • I don't think most people would lie about those things. I don't think most people with an STD would withhold that information from someone who has a right to know it.

        • Good luck with that. How do you suppose std's get spread?

          • I suppose it happens because the vast majority of carriers don't even know they have an STD because they have no symptoms.

            • I'm a Nigerian Prince who is in need of your help. Please give me your bank account number so I can transfer my vast fortunes into your American account. You will be handsomely rewarded and given a position in my cabinet when I reclaim my reign. TRUST ME. I would never lie. I'll also throw in a book of Nigerian stamps, an AMC Gremlin, 3 goats, and a bottle of Old Spice aftershave.

    • that's not a very good way to look at it, there is a really high . The thing about stds are that there are ALOT of types, some people don't even know they have it. 1 in 15 people have chlamydia, there are no symptoms either so your kinda playing a trust game here..

    • Oh wow. You must be young. "Most people don't have std's". Here are 2 stats from the CDC:

      * 1 in 6 have Genital Herpes.
      * HPV is so common that nearly all sexually-active men and women get it at some point in their lives.

      I'm not saying don't have sex. I'm saying...play it safe. There are MUCH MUCH worse things than HPV and the herps.

      • I've looked it up. 1 in 5 people have an STD in America, and I'll presume it's the same where I live. That's still definitely not "most", but I'll admit it's higher than I thought.
