I agree with gazorpazorpfield. Just because someone else is so insecure that they would feel like something is wrong with them if they didn't have friends, they assume that there's something wrong with you if you don't. That's absurd and not a little bit arrogant.
I moved (way) out of the area for many years, and when I came back I had two kids, and I'm their only parent. I'm taking care of and raising them, not socializing. It's not like I can't have friends, I just don't happen to right now. It's not a problem for me, so why would it be a problem for someone else? If I socialized, I'm sure I'd have friends just as I had before. But if I don't, so what? It's not something I need, even though it's something I like.
I like pumpkin pie when there's pumpkin pie. If there's no pumpkin pie, I don't feel sad or empty.
