Is it normal I do not understand the purpose of kissing?

  • In my experience, kissing is an acquired taste and it depends a lot on how you feel about the person you're kissing. What they say in the books is true - some people, there's just SOMETHING ELSE there that makes it enjoyable, and it's really hard to pinpoint exactly why that is. Maybe it's just that it's a social construct, and because of the romantic connotations attached to it, it makes you feel good.

I used to think the same way, dude. The only reason I sort of understand it is because I've found someone I enjoy kissing. And the only reason for that is because I'm seriously romantically interested in him. I wouldn't want to kiss just anyone!

I don't have anything for you as far as how kissing originated or how it came to be the way it is, but as for WHY people kiss - it's because it is enjoyable under the right circumstances. Perhaps you just haven't found those circumstances yet! Or maybe you just don't like kissing. Which is okay too! It all depends on your personal tastes, I guess.
