Kissing, in a sexual way, should be mutually pleasurable. If it isn't, then you're not doing it correctly.
Otherwise, kissing is a behavior to show affection, or as a token of greeting, in some cultures.

These are two bonobo (Pan paniscus) females playing and kissing. The bonobo, and chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes), are our (Homo sapiens sapiens) two closest extant relatives. We all shared common ancestors between 4 to 7 million years ago. It is probably safe to say that our very distant relatives, before we became anything close to human (Homo), were kissing.

The only people, who typically do not kiss, are the Inuit people and related groups. They do not kiss because they live in the Arctic, and their lips would actually freeze together! They rub noses, instead.
