Is it normal i do not know what to do in these situations?

Whenever someone insults me I am not very clever with come back insults. This makes people think I do not stick up for myself even thought I try to. I also do not understand the difference between someone joking or insulting. My other answer is fighting, which I would do back in school, but I am very uncoordinated and have connective tissue problems in my shoulders which cause my arms to become dislocated in sudden movements, so you can imagine I am not a good fighter. That leaves me with the option of killing them. However when I suggest this people say I am being crazy even though its the only logical solution. My ex would always get upset at me for not "defending her" and when I would try verbally it would usually not end well for my side since I am not good at arguing points. However nobody gives me a better solution.

  • Why would you even give the guy a chance to insult you in the first place? Anyway, I have been no better although in my case it happened too suddenly to do anything about it!

    • People insult each other each time. How do you go about keeping someone from talking shit before you do it? Wouldn't I have to be able to predict the future to do that?

  • Have you tried kicking?

    • That's not an effective fighting tactic used alone. I have thought about taking up martial arts to improve my skills though. The thing is though that I'm still not certain of when it would be appropriate to start a physical fight or not. I figure the true answer to that is simply when I feel like it is but I get myself in trouble often when I have gotten mad and everyone thinks I'm being crazy and when I don't get mad everyone thinks I'm not sticking up for myself. I think a lot of it comes down to I do not have a concept of what is social appropriate to most people.

  • "I also do not understand the difference between someone joking or insulting." this is actually normal for people with Aspergers.

But why are you people insulting you in the first place?

    • Yes, I already know I have aspergers. I have been diagnosed several times. Its funny that I never mention it in my stories here but someone always guesses that. As to why people insult me, I don't know. It seems to me that most people insult each other.
