Long time ago, alpha male was required to catch meat to feed his family, nowadays he doesn't do that anymore but he brings money and is a sort of 'base' for a family, whether woman works or not. So if a man has the ability to earn money he is therefore capable alpha male, and women find it attractive. Main reason women go for alpha males is feeling they are safe. So yes, pefectly normal. Should say I am a female who is going to marry dirt poor guy next year, but it is ridiculous to say that it isn't normal. It doesn't get more normal.
