I actually developed a little policy, myself. I don't talk about religion, politics, or music with other people unless I have caught wind of openmindedness through other sources.
It solves a lot of problems -which shouldn't have to worry about becoming problems.

J/k, I agree with you. When someone thinks what they like is better than what you like (be it books, or movies, or music), just because that is their opinion, that is extremely disrespectful. I will forgive people almost anything without a thought, but I will not stand idly by while someone disrespects me, ever!

This elitist attitude isn't just based around music; it happens for movies, books, sports, and games as well (pretty much anything that has a diverse list of material) you will get people insulting you for.

It's an attitude I hope will be destroyed in the next couple years.

I dislike it in all forms. People who think the music, books, films, etc. that they like are "good" just because they like them, and other things are "bad" because they don't. I like Wayne's World very, very, very much indeed but it doesn't make it a masterpiece. I watched the first Twilight film (out of interest) and didn't like it because my feelings on it don't make it bad.

While I'm on my soapbox, people who think something is "right" just because they think it. Gah!

I agree. If I say something is good (a song, band, movie, programme, etc.) I mean it's good in my opinion and I would recommend it to others. But everything is a matter of opinion.

I used to be a heavymetal head and I remember calling music shit on a daily basis, but now I listen to all music, mostly symphonic/black metal and rap lol. Its stupid how people think towards this, but its normal.

I stopped years ago with this "hatred" for a particular type of music and just started to say doesn't attract me but I can see how someone would like it.
