I'm having the same problem too.. At first, I thought it's my bad articulation that makes me sound stupid in front of people. So I went on practicing my pronunciation in my room and I can speak like a news reporter alone. The moment I open my mouth in front of people, I sound like an idiot again.. I feel stressed by the idea of talking to someone as I know that they are anticipating my words and I shouldn't take too much of their time. The things get worse when I'm living in a country where English is not colloquially spoken but plays a major role in academic institutions, I simply sound like a retarded person in front of the lecturers. Then, I found a few friends who speak perfectly and are patient enough to listen, I almost cried when they are willing to listen to me because it's been a while since I found someone besides my family members who are willing to do so. Voilà, my communication skills have improved significantly, try to find someone who is willing to listen, it works well for me. :) All the best in your future endeavors!
