There are loads of songs I know parts of but not the whole thing, sometimes I set out to do a whole song other times I hear something and just have to try it, for example I'm not really a fan of muse but I heard the intro for plug in baby and had to learn in, I can play it but I don't know the rest.
Sometimes I can spend ages trying to play something and I get really annoyed, when this happens I just drop it, do something else, take my mind off it, then return, helps everytime
