Is it normal i can only sleep well if i've had a few drinks?

Normally, I sleep about 4-5 hours a night (not ideal) and I have trouble staying asleep for the whole night. If I have a drink and go to sleep a little tipsy I sleep like a log and end up getting 8+ hours. Is this normal?

Not sure how normal it is, but both parts of it sound unhealthy. Not getting enough sleep and drinking to enable sleep. Also, even if you are sleeping longer when you drink, the sleep is almost guaranteed to be lower quality.

Not abnormal, but usually not the best move. Find yourself being dependent on a drink or two to fall asleep.

one or two drinks to fall asleep inst going to hurt anyone, thats prude talk.

If you're shotgunning a pint of liquor right before you go to sleep, thats not really too healthy. I always sleep better with a buzz.

Not prude talk, man...Just a bad idea to need to have a few in order to fall asleep; Try being married to an alcoholic like I was.. Beer cans in the drawer, and bottle in the dry cleaning container.. I'd say something, and get "I can't even drink in my own fkn house" (for the record...It was always MY house).

If you sleep better with a buzz, maybe a little introspection is in order..

I disagree, only it is really annoying generating empty alcohol containers that clutter everything up. Drinking a few drinks to go to sleep is miles from being an alcoholic

Take some melatonin instead, and if you drink make sure to have some water to prevent a hangover.

Only time I ever took melatonin I had horrifying vivid nightmares all night. Alcohol and weed work much better

Try a ZMA supplement instead. The Magnesium should help.
