  • It is pretentious. But I can understand it - when your life isn't exactly what you want yet, it's normal to want it to seem more exciting than it is. It doesn't help when you see your friends on the news feed sharing their seemingly more exciting lives.

    But this is a pretty poor method, in my opinion. People are as likely to think you're not posting on Facebook because you haven't got anything interesting to post, as they are that you're out being too exciting and interesting to 'check in'.
