You're right, it is ridiculous.
I've also heard guys say they don't want their girlfriend to be overly attractive because they are jealous of other guys hitting on them.
Really what this comes down to is the guy is insecure and doesn't seem to trust you either.
If he did trust you, he wouldn't be concerned about you having attention from other guys.
You should continue to work out and he will just have to deal with it, and if he can't, that will be too bad for him.
Is it normal he got what he wanted and is not happy about it?
