Nope, I'm happily single. My ex was a verbally and emotionally abusive person. The first day after his father had surgery to remove cancer from his lung my ex turned the corner, and attempted to be physically abusive. At my first opportunity I locked myself in a camper on the property and called 911. He was arrested and later that evening my cat and I fled with about 10 bags of stuff to a local hotel. So I'm happy, and grateful to be single.
There's more to that story, but you get the picture I hope. Right now I don't think I want anyone in my life to tell you the truth. My most recent ex was the only person I've ever been with who was abusive like that. I never want to be with anyone like him ever again. I can't imagine why, or how some people stay with abusive partners for years on end. That day I tried to walk away from my ex, because his verbal abuse was too much he came after me, grabbed me by the back bra strap of my sports bra, dragged down the street and back up to the house, and in the country in Texas that's a long way. Anyway that was enough for me for lifetime!
So right now I'm content to live with my elderly parents and Siamese cat.
I am sorry to hear this and I am glad you left. My mom did not leave my father when he started becoming abusive and as a result I was subjected to his terror and abuse until I decided to run away at 16. I was trapped there because of my age and incapacity to leave on my own and I had to suffer years of abuse and pain and I was left with illness that I will never be able to cure. I wish my mom left earlier to build a career of herself so I could have been in a better condition now. You made a wise decision and left right on time to avoid more damage. Congratulations for this and I wish you the best.
