I like a girl to talk to me like any other person. You're in the same school, so that's some connection at least. Don't worry too much about whether he'll like you back. You haven't got anything to lose here, you don't even know him yet.
Just... start talking to him. As long as you're relaxed, he'll be relaxed as well. I can only give you the advice I'd give to a guy: don't use cheesy pick up lines, just start talking with him casually. If things go smoothly, you can ask him to hang out after school.

- Be confident
- Don't make a conversation plan. You can think of a topic in case things aren't going smoothly, but normally, a casual 'hey' is alright to start the conversation.
- Be genuinely interested in what he is saying. Don't just act interested. Most people don't listen, they just wait for their turn to talk (hell, I do that from time to time as well). If you're really interested in someone, he'll open up a lot more, and start to like you.
That's all I can think of right now. I hope this helps. One last tip: you'd be suprised at how many people want you to talk to them. The worst case scenario is that he ignores you (and that's the WORST scenario), and that's still not a big deal. You've got a lot more to win than to lose.
