There's always a huge back log for background checks, these days.
No matter what the pay, you obviously need a spotless record to have any position where you are guarding anything, other than a garbage dump, I'd think.
If you are ex-military, I'd think you could fast track it, but otherwise, you're just going to have to wait your turn.
Is it normal guard checks take up to 7 months?

I have a spotless record. Also you can be one with a criminal record but it takes 16-19 months for that.
