This may be normal or not depending on how long you've been doing it: a specific number of calories isn't a magic wand, you know.
Apart from the last irrelevant sentence, richardgere whatever is correct: if you drastically reduce your calorie intake suddenly your body goes into "starvation mode" and stores up just about everything you eat as fat. It would be much better to change your eating habits slowly and eat small meals 4 -6 times a day so you're not tempted to snack in between. AND drink lots of water too ....
Just cutting out chips & chocolates doesn't necessarily mean you're eating a healthy diet: vegetables, fruit, whole grain ......... it isn't rocket science!
