I guess you have to ask yourself how you'll feel in the end if you continue to accept responsibility for your mother for as long as she needs you (which sounds like it could be for life) compared to how you'd feel if you said you couldn't continue and separated from her.
It sounds like your options are pretty shitty, but you have to pick one (or some compromise) and live with the consequences.
In my view, children shouldn't be expected to devote their lives to their parents. They didn't ask to be born to fill that role, parents have no right to expect them to do so, and children have the right to find their own place in the world.
I think it's a good and decent thing take care of your parents when they get old as long as they weren't terrible parents. Parents who were abusive towards their children don't deserve to be cared for in their old age.

Thank you! I am a little scared to leave my mom though. My mom is very mentally ill and honestly, I don't know what she would do without me.
