Is it normal for your heart to skip beats as you're about to sleep?

For a while I have noticed that whenever I lay in bed before going to sleep, my heart starts to skip beats. It will stay on tempo for about 3-4 beats, stop for one, and then pump a big one and carry on with that loop. I don't notice anything like this while I'm awake during the day and I am a pretty heathy person. Is this normal?

    When I was young I couldn't play football. I had a murmur
When I was 19 my heart jumped up to 240. They said it looked like a normal beat. Gave me a shot and sent me on my way. That happened so often I quit going to the hospital. I would just go for a wal till it quit. I have not had it since I was 34 and started drinking beer full time. Not enough to get drunk.

I never sleep in a bed. I have a extra large recvliner. I breathe easier and sleep better.

This affected me at one point when I got really out of shape. I found once I started working out again and went to the gym regularly, that problem went away. I will not say for certainty if it is normal or not, but I have heard of it.

It is probably best to ask a doctor.

I don't think it is appropriate to have made it into adulthood with the excuse "it's probally a PVC. Make an appointment with cardiology and make sure they do an "echocardogram". If it's nothing "Good fo You" if it's not...... There are many open heart survivors young and old and we're a pretty strong bunch.

Every has that. It can be scary but unless it effects your breathing or starts to hurt I'd just ignore it. It could also be stress or anxiety related.

Those sound like they're PVCs. Mostly normal in otherwise healhy people. Go to your doctor for confirmation after an examination which may include am EKG.

  • It's normal for me too. Dunno if it's anything bad but it happens to me a lot.

It wouldn't hurt to ask a doctor.

I think that happens to me too. You're probably just more concious about it when you're laying there not thinking about anything else.
